Accentuate Staffing is working with a large manufacturer who is looking to add a Senior Industrial Engineer which is an integral part to their growing team.

This role will provide industrial engineering, continuous improvement, planning, and business services to the NC manufacturing plants to develop and maintain highly cost-efficient processes and effective operations.  It will create manning estimates, direct labor standards, and monitor plant efficiencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify areas for and implement studies beneficial to improving facility efficiency.  Determine proper methods that promote conservation of product, labor, materials, costs, safety, ergonomic stresses, and equipment.
  • Analyze business processes and operational methodologies.  Utilize the results of studies to develop more effective methods of operation.  Implement improvements upon management acceptance.
  • Develop and maintain standards and controls for production shrinks, yields, machine capacities and efficiency, manning, and operating strategy from raw material receipt to finished goods.  Utilize the following techniques in developing the engineered standards (but not limited to):  time study, work sampling, and actual performance measures.  Measure productivity, audit standards, and update standards as warranted.
  • Work in conjunction with research and development, operations management, and accounting and finance on the development and successful implementation of all new products or processes at the plant level through:  Items 1 to 3 above, proper analysis of process impact, process cost, developing plant layouts, communicates associated risk and process constraints.  Provides input to product specifications, labor staffing estimates, etc.
  • Primary IE resource that partners & participates with corporate engineering, plant engineering, other plant industrial engineers & operations management in developing and designing optimal plant and equipment layouts considering flow, cycle time, manning, throughputs, and downstream and upstream impacts.
  • Train or supervise training of personnel in new methods and procedures implemented in operations and develop materials and procedures for training.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities to ensure improvement in strategic processes, products, flow, raw materials, and equipment.
  • Develop project justification (return on investment) for plant improvement projects.
  • Analyze, evaluate, model, recommend plant layouts, modifications, and relocations of production lines utilizing various software packages.
  • Assist in the identification, selection, procurement, and installation of equipment and/or improved operating procedures for the plants including potential automation equipment and systems.
  • Keep informed of developments and industry trends in areas of responsibility through reading of related literature and participation in educational workshops, seminars, and conferences.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering or other technical degree combined with applicable industry experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate to all levels of organization by tailoring communications to team members.
  • Demonstrated ability influencing and implementing positive change in an organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to teach, train, and work independently.
  • High level of knowledge of work measurement systems in manufacturing.
  • Related IE, plant, or process engineering experience.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, statistical, and presentation skills to assess business situations and solve problems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.  Familiar understanding of AutoCAD.
  • Must be able to travel up to 35% of the time.
