Accentuate Staffing is recruiting for a Consumer Packaged Goods Manufacturer in the RTP area who is seeking a Sourcing Manager. This is a new position with an established overall sourcing strategy for the division. The successful candidate will possess strong strategic business skills and be a hands-on leader who can both lead and participate in tactical projects that maximize efficiency and reduce costs. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will conduct spend, utilization, and supplier analyses to provide informed guidance and develop/improve on processes and systems that ensure the timely fulfillment of customer orders utilizing strategies that optimize inventory and material availability.

Travel will be limited by evolving regulations and company policies surrounding Covid-19. It is anticipated that regular travel will be in the 25-50% range, primarily domestic.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead sourcing projects and initiatives from ideation to strategic execution across the end to end production stream – including raw materials, packaging and finished goods.
  • Accountable for negotiating/managing supplier contracts with a focus on progressive contracting methodologies and dispute resolution when necessary.
  • Drive risk mitigation and alternate supplier evaluations for Business Continuity Plan (BCP) options.
  • Develop the supplier selection standard operation procedures and key principles, lead development and implementation of strategic sourcing strategies, and conduct supplier selection process including commercial terms negotiations to identify the best sourcing options.
  • Provide continuous improvement support to supply chain affiliates and suppliers that includes development of training material and coordination of training requirements
  • Monitor operational efficiency trends and process variations to identify opportunities for improvement in manufacturing and packaging process.
  • In collaboration with the Integrated Business Planning team, develop wholistic supplier performance scorecards and perform supplier performance monitoring, establishing expectations and supporting supplier improvements to ensure performance meets (and exceeds) balanced KPI scorecard targets.
  • CIP (Continuous Improvement Program) monitoring post-project to confirm sustainability
  • Facilitate and lead service improvement “workshop” sessions with a range of business stakeholders (including the use of process/value stream mapping).
  • Coordinate initiatives across the supply chain to ensure optimum cost. The coordination will include, but not limited to, purchasing, affiliates, distribution, manufacturing and packaging.
  • Lead the standardization of supply chain practices across respective sites
  • Onsite support during product launches to ensure production is executed according to specification. Manage the transfer of product specs and packaging technical specs to suppliers.
  • In collaboration with the Integrated Business Planning team, evaluate supplier capacity validation / management, taking the leadership role to develop alternatives to ensure consistent and reliable supply.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact (with the exception of day-to-day order management & planning) and relationship owner for supplier relationship communication.
  • File supplier complaints (SCAR) and follow up to ensure supplier investigation and root cause are addressed with adequate CAPA plans.
  • Lead cost of goods analysis across the portfolio to identify and secure opportunities for cost savings improvements to drive optimal gross margin.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or Equivalent
  • Proven work experience as a sourcing/procurement manager with the execution of complex contract terms and conditions.
  • Leadership experience in a high-volume, multi-site process manufacturing organization is a must.
  • 5 + years of experience in CPG manufacturing sector supply chain sourcing manufacturing / packaging services and onboarding material suppliers
  • A self-starter that has excellent organizational skills to handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Excellent knowledge of production as a part of the end to end supply chain and how it interrelates with Sales & Operations Planning, forecasting, production planning, logistics, product lifecycle management
  • Experience user of SAP ERP & Planning systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office common tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
  • Strong ability to communicate purpose, build trustful relationships, drive results, manage complexity and ambiguity, and balance competing priorities across diverse & multi-functional stakeholders or team members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to simplify and communicate complex concepts
  • Experience of defining remediation plans to address productivity and efficiency gaps, and track record of following through to ensure closure of action items
