Accentuate Staffing is partnering with a client in the Triangle area to find an experienced PLC Controls Technician. The ideal candidate will have experience working in facility automation to ensure proper design, installation, and operation of all electrical components for manufacturing and industrial facilities.

As a PLC Controls Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing programmable logic controller (PLC) systems used in industrial and manufacturing settings. Your expertise in PLC programming, electrical systems, and automation will be essential in ensuring the efficient operation of machinery and processes controlled by these systems. You will work closely with engineers, operators, and maintenance teams to optimize production processes and minimize downtime.

Responsibilities:

PLC System Installation and Configuration:

  • Install, set up, and configure PLC systems based on project requirements and specifications.
  • Program PLCs using ladder logic, function block diagrams, or other programming languages.

Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:

  • Identify and resolve PLC-related malfunctions, including hardware and software issues.
  • Use diagnostic tools and techniques to investigate problems and restore system functionality promptly.

Preventive Maintenance:

  • Perform regular maintenance on PLC systems to ensure their reliable and efficient operation.
  • Conduct routine inspections and system tests to detect potential problems and address them proactively.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Collaborate with engineering and automation teams to integrate PLC systems with existing machinery and equipment.
  • Provide technical support to operators and maintenance personnel in diagnosing and rectifying PLC-related problems.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of PLC programs, modifications, and system changes.
  • Create and update technical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and system manuals.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety regulations and protocols while working on electrical and automation systems.
  • Ensure that PLC systems comply with industry standards and regulations.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation enhancements.
  • Propose and implement solutions to optimize production efficiency and reduce downtime.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree or certification in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • Proven experience in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with various PLC brands and models (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, etc.).
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, motor controls, and industrial automation.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control diagrams.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like ladder logic, function block diagrams, structured text, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency calls if required.
