Accentuate Staffing is currently recruiting for a Payroll Specialist to join a global organization in the Cary, NC area. This is a direct hire opportunity with a hybrid work environment and competitive salary and benefits package. The Payroll Specialist will Support the regional Payroll function in ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately and in compliance with government regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures accurate and timely entry of payroll updates including 401k deferrals,401k loans, garnishments and gift cards
  • Reviews and audits weekly/bi-weekly payrolls for 5 locations to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
  • Prepares and distributes monthly Corporate Headcount report and quarterly MWR report for North Carolina
  • Runs G/L report and distributes to controllers at each location along with payroll reports
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions and manual checks
  • Assists plant HR Coordinators/Generalists with all payroll-related entries and questions relating to payroll
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
  • Assists in annual Open Enrollment and year-end processes and reporting as needed
  • Serves as first line contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll-related topics (benefits, deductions, overtime, pay, etc.); assists in researching and troubleshooting related issues
  • Processes monthly benefit invoices and weekly/bi-weekly uploads to Fidelity and Empower
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism, security and confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
  • Performs other duties as assigned and will serve as back-up to HRIS/Payroll Manger in her absence

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business administration, accounting, human resources or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in, and knowledge of, payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal audit and control and payroll taxes
  • Excellent organizational skills, keying accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with ADP Workforce Now, including reporting functionality and Time & Attendance
  • Proficient with Excel including functions and pivot tables
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations as they apply to pay for exempt and non-exempt, salaried and hourly employees in multiple states
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain positive partnerships across various organizational functions pertaining to people, systems and processes (HR, Finance, Operations, Sales, Technology, Marketing, IT, etc.)
