Accentuate Staffing is currently seeking a skilled Payroll Manager to join our client, a prominent player in the building materials industry, based in Raleigh, NC. As the Payroll Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our client’s finance team, collaborating closely with the Senior Manager of Payroll. Your primary responsibility will be to lead and manage an efficient payroll team, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll and related compensation expenses. We are seeking a candidate with union experience who is adept at handling multi-state payrolls in a high-volume environment. This direct hire position is on-site 4 days a week with one day remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate, timely, and efficient processing, calculation, and disbursement of payroll and related compensation expenses.
  • Address escalated payroll inquiries promptly and effectively.
  • Meet federal, state, and local tax reporting deadlines.
  • Analyze payroll accounting-related issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Identify, develop, and implement continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain internal control standards, including workflow and work instruction management.
  • Create, monitor, and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess shared services model effectiveness.
  • Assist internal and external auditors by conducting research and analysis for audit requests.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Finance, and IS partners to implement Workday and payroll initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
  • 7+ years of payroll management experience, handling multi-state payrolls in a high-volume setting.
  • Experience with union payroll processing is essential.
  • Proficiency in end-to-end payroll processing, including knowledge of payroll tax legislation and regulations.
  • Preferred: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
  • Preferred: Experience with JD Edwards, Workday, and Kronos.
  • Familiarity with California payroll rules and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and multitasking abilities.
  • Adaptability to changing work environments and ability to manage competing priorities.
