Accentuate Staffing is in search of a Mechanical Piping Designer for a pharmaceutical firm in the Raleigh, NC area.  This is a Direct Hire opportunity with a leading organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering piping & mechanical design solutions for troubleshooting, modifications & additions to the existing facility & process & utility equipment
  • Create & redline technical drawings, schematics & 3D models of mechanical equipment & piping
  • Coordinate with system owners, engineers, & project managers to establish project requirements
  • Own, manage & update 3D models with design changes
  • Create piping isometrics, bill of materials, flushing, passivation & pressure testing plans from drawings & 3D models
  • Complete pipe stress analysis calculations on new & existing piping
  • Create &/or modify project workflows, design standards & engineering specifications
  • Perform all work in accordance with applicable SOPs, cGMPs, corporate standards, state & federal laws/regulations
  • Lead & support the development, planning, execution & management of projects, as assigned
  • Perform field verifications of piping installations
  • Create detailed bid packages for projects
  • Review contract terms & conditions & service contract proposals
  • Responsible for adherence to mechanisms for monitoring project progress, intervention & problem solving
  • Responsible for communications to internal customers & management
  • Assist with training of personnel supporting projects
  • Ensure that installation, troubleshooting, qualification & validation of equipment meet project requirements
  • Other accountabilities, as assigned

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in engineering or related field or combination of AAS degree in drafting/design & related experience
  • Ability to read/review/modify design drawings with an understanding of P&ID, structural, HVAC, & architectural systems
  • Highly proficient with AutoCAD Plant 3D & Navisworks
  • Knowledgeable of ASME BPE & B31.3, ANSI, API & other applicable piping codes
  • Highly proficient in mechanical & piping (utilities, process & hazardous chemical) design, specifying piping & components, material of construction, pipe supports & pipe racks, creating & revising 3D models & creating isometric drawings
  • Experience in performing pipe stress analysis calculations
  • Minimum eight (8) years of proven piping design experience in oil & gas, chemical or pharmaceutical industries with direct experience in utility, process, & hygienic piping design
  • Proven expertise in planning/organizing, managing execution & revising the work plan for complex problems solved by cross functional teams
