
Health Information Specialist
Accentuate Staffing is currently recruiting for a Health Information Investigative Coordinator for a company in Raleigh. This position will be hybrid and will be responsible for reviewing reports and following up with medical facilities for overdue orders regarding health information. This position will also be responsible for monitoring the corresponding email inbox for incoming health information in response to orders issued and will review produced health information for accuracy and completeness in support of investigations. This position will also issue orders to produce for health information when review by other departments determines that additional health information is needed for the investigation of a case.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews section reports and determines appropriate action items and follow up necessary.
- Contacts medical facilities or their counsel of record to follow up on overdue orders by telephone or email communication.
- Assists with identifying health information needed for investigation or review by internal staff or external medical reviewers.
- Reviews medical records and other health information received, including management of shared inbox, for accuracy and completeness of orders and in support of specific case details
- Issues orders to produce for the production of protected health information relevant to investigations.
- Collaborates and confers with the Investigations, Medical, and Legal Departments regarding investigative health information needed and requests and tracks orders regarding same to obtain complete investigative materials in connection with ongoing investigations
- Accurately documents information into organization database
Requirements:
- High School diploma (certificate and/or associate degree in a related field preferred)
- 2+ years of professional experience in a legal, hospital or medical office setting (additional years of experience are highly desirable)
- Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of electronic health record systems (EHR), medical records, health information and meaningful use
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and be attentive to detail
- Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information
- Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Must be highly personable and skilled on the telephone and possess competent computer and administrative skills and the ability to interface with external stakeholders and internal personnel at all levels
- Experience in obtaining medical records and health information and evaluating that information to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Maintains public confidence by keeping protected health information confidential as required by state and federal law and standard operating procedures
- Accurately enter information into a proprietary online platform
