
Geotechnical Testing Technician
Accentuate Staffing is partnering with a well-established engineering and testing solutions company who is hiring a Geotechnical Testing Technician to support their Research & Development team. This is a direct hire opportunity, offering competitive pay and benefits, working onsite with regular field testing and travel. The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, and self-motivated, with experience (or strong interest) in laboratory and field testing of construction materials and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct laboratory and field testing on construction materials including soil, asphalt, concrete, aggregates, and masonry to support R&D initiatives.
- Prepare samples for laboratory testing and ensure accurate setup, execution, and documentation of test procedures.
- Collect, record, and analyze test data while maintaining complete and accurate laboratory records in accordance with quality and safety standards.
- Support development and validation of ASTM standards, inter-laboratory studies (ILS), and construction materials research.
- Assist with testing of prototype equipment, collecting field data and providing feedback to improve new and existing products.
- Manage inventory of parts, supplies, and finished goods related to testing activities.
- Travel to remote sites for field testing as required (up to one week at a time) and work weekends or extended hours when needed.
- Follow all laboratory, field, and safety procedures, including working at heights when required.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required; 2-year technical degree preferred.
- General mechanical and/or electronic aptitude; experience operating testing equipment or sensors is a plus.
- Prior experience with sample preparation, laboratory testing, or field testing preferred.
- Ability to maintain accurate scientific records and follow established procedures with attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently with limited supervision in both lab and field environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external customers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; solid math and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 56 lbs and perform physical field work.
- Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record required.
