Accentuate Staffing is currently recruiting for a G/L Accountant for our well-established client in Raleigh, NC.  This is a Direct Hire Opportunity offering solid benefits.  The G/L Accountant is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger as well as preparing basic financial reports for all assigned G/L accounts

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that financial records are keep in accordance with GAAP and all appropriate records are retained
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts
  • Performs account analysis of assigned accounts to ensure all entries are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and theories
  • Accurately and timely prepares all month end entries for assigned accounts
  • Prepares monthly account reconciliations accurately and timely for all assigned accounts
  • Reviews activity in key accounts on a weekly basis and communicates any questions to the field to ensure activity is accurately reported each month-end
  • Monitors applicable G/L accounts to ensure they agree to the sub-ledger. Researches and resolves any differences.
  • Analyzes and reviews assigned accounts to ensure financial statements are completed in a timely fashion, free of misstatement
  • Understands the nature of all assigned accounts and how entries are booked to all accounts
  • Assists the field managers with questions pertaining to G/L Accounts assigned
  • Manages various projects as identified or assigned by the Corporate Controller, Assistant Controllers or Accounting Managers
  • Cross train on Accounting Manager daily duties
  • Complete any daily/weekly ad hoc tasks assigned by Accounting Supervisor or Manager

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 2+ years of experience within an accounting department within a private or publicly held corporation
  • Strong attention to detail, high degree of accuracy and ability to solve complex difficult problems
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills along with good judgement, motivation and communication skills
  • Strong Excel skills.  Must be able to create and use Excel pivot tables, formatting, and formulas.
  • Strong knowledge of financial and accounting software applications
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting theories, principles, methods, practices, and terminology
  • Must be able to work under pressure, exhibit proper management of time, while meeting established deadlines
