Accounting/Finance Manager
Accentuate Staffing is currently seeking an Accounting/Finance Manager for a client in State Government/Public Administration. The Finance Manager oversees the organization’s accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls to ensure accurate financial records and compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations. Reporting to the CFO/COO, this role leads key accounting processes, supports financial audits, and manages a team of accounting professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, and state and federal regulations
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Support preparation of audited financial statements and coordinate with external auditors
- Maintain strong internal controls and financial policies
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support leadership decision-making
- Oversee bond accounting and investor reporting as applicable
- Supervise and develop accounting staff
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- CPA or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Public Administration strongly desired
- 10+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience
- Prior experience supervising or managing accounting staff
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/GASB and financial reporting
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills
- Proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft Office
- Experience in higher education, government, or public sector finance desired
- Experience with bond accounting or investor reporting
- Familiarity with North Carolina financial systems (PeopleSoft, InfoPorte, NCFS)
