Accentuate Staffing is seeking a Director of Human Resources to join a well-established organization in Raleigh This position develops, directs, oversees, and administers all key areas of professional Human Resources Management including human resources information management, employee relations, DEI, legal compliance, recruitment, payroll administration, succession planning, training and development, benefits administration and wage and salary administration.
Responsibilities:
- Human Capital Strategic Planning:
- Develops organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives and mission.
- Partners with leaders, and internal and external constituencies to ensure personnel supports the values and strategic goals.
- Work in conjunction with the CFO to set personnel budget, benefits budget, retirement budget, etc.
- DEI Expertise:
- Serves as the subject matter expert in diversity and inclusion, partnering with the Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee efforts and formulating and establishing policies and priorities to ensure a sustainable, high performing organization, and workforce.
- Leads the organization in implementing strategic initiatives for the employees, including the advancement of a culture for equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Provides strategic direction for training initiatives on cultural competency, gender differences, disability, sexual harassment, building a climate of equity and inclusion, and other topics designed to increase awareness and support of equity and inclusion values, and maintaining compliance with applicable laws in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Human Resources Operations:
- Recruit, select, orient, and train staff and faculty.
- Update and monitor staff job descriptions.
- Update and write policies and procedures, as needed.
- Researches, develops, implements, and executes competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs.
- Ensure all HR vendors are effectively communicated with and employee’s needs are met regarding retirement plans, legal compliance, and benefit plans.
- Participates in risk management issues potentially involving the reputation of the organization, employees, and/or potential legal action.
- Employee Relations:
- Coach, counsel, and support staff in accordance with policy.
- Assist in the termination process of employees in accordance with policy.
- Mentor leadership on employee relations best practices.
- Compliance Expertise:
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions as it relates to employment law, human resources, and talent management..
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree with concentration/coursework in Human Resources, Finance, Business, or other related field required; Master’s in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or MBA preferred.
- At least 10 years human resource management experience or any appropriate combination of education and experience.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or SPHR strongly preferred.
- Strong functional competence in all areas of human resources management.
- In depth knowledge of talent acquisition and management strategies and experience building high performance teams.
- Knowledge of evolving diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices.
- Proven success at establishing/creating a positive culture in previous positions.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations and compliance requirements affecting human resources.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies within the school.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
- Demonstrated ability in the areas of judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Proven organization skills and ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft programs.
- Ability to influence through strong relationships, expertise, and data.
