Accentuate Staffing is assisting a well-established manufacturing company who is hiring a Controls Automation Technician to join their team at their sawmill operation. This is a direct hire opportunity in a hands-on, heavy industrial environment supporting 24/7 production equipment. This role offers strong overtime potential and the opportunity to be a key contributor to plant operations.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and maintain automated sawmill and production equipment to minimize downtime
- Program, troubleshoot, and modify Allen Bradley PLCs using Studio 5000 and RSLogix
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems ranging from 4–20 mA signals to 480V 3-phase power
- Work with automation components including photo eyes, proximity sensors, encoders, and pressure transducers
- Support and troubleshoot HMI/SCADA systems (FactoryTalk View or similar)
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting of motors, drives (VFDs), conveyors, and processing equipment
- Partner with maintenance, operations, and OEM vendors to resolve equipment issues quickly
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to increase uptime and efficiency
- Maintain accurate documentation of PLC programs, changes, and maintenance activities
- Provide on-call and after-hours support for critical equipment
Requirements:
- 5–7+ years of experience in industrial maintenance or automation in a manufacturing or heavy industrial setting
- Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley PLCs (troubleshooting and basic programming)
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including 480V and control circuits
- Experience working with automation sensors and control systems
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, outdoor/industrial environment (sawmill, wood products, or similar)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment
- Comfortable working around heavy equipment, moving machinery, noise, dust, and outdoor conditions
- Must be willing to participate in on-call rotation and work extended hours as needed
