Accentuate Staffing is recruiting for a Controller for our growing client in Durham.   This position offers a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.  This is a remote position right now, but will eventually go back into the office.   The Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, including the preparation of financial reports, maintenance of the general ledger, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhanced the accurate of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of accounting: revenue recognition, treasury management, financial statements, billings and collections, payroll, payables, cost accounting, tax compliance, and journal entries.
  • Lead accounting team of 1- 2 direct reports.
  • Maintain general ledger for holding companies and any acquired businesses.
  • Ensure the month-end close is completed on time, with a high degree of accuracy, and in accordance with GAAP.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax specialists, and bankers.
  • Ensure that all audits are completed on time and without material errors.
  • Prepare standard monthly reports and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Manage corporate credit cards and employee expense reporting and reimbursement.
  • Monitor cash and working capital needs
  • Complying with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting
  • Prepare the annual income tax provision
  • Maintain a comprehensive system of internal controls.
  • Serve as a “backup” for bi-monthly payroll processing.

Requirements:

  • CPA license required
  • Master’s degree in Accounting desired
  • 8-10 years of experience, including public accounting experience
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organized and attentive to details
  • Merger & Acquisition experience preferred
  • Private-equity experience preferred
  • Ability to thrive in a challenging, fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
