Accentuate Staffing is working on an exciting Direct Hire Controller Opportunity with a Dynamic Clinical Research Organization in Durham!  This role is primarily responsible for controlling the day-to-day financial affairs of the US Corporate Office.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the preparation of monthly management accounts: Preparation of financial statements, preparation of monthly reports, financial analysis, general accounting, business process management and other duties as assigned.  Will liaise with local operational staff and UK and Romanian accounting/finance staff
  • Payroll: Oversee and administer US bimonthly payroll for employees and manage invoice payments for independent contractors.  Will review any cash transactions pertaining to payroll, benefits, and payroll taxes while maintaining and managing associated GL accounts.  Will work closely with HR across all aspects of payroll, benefits, the associated reporting (monthly and annual).   Ensure that proper deductions are made for staff 401k, benefits, etc.  Assist with communications to employees and with employee onboarding for new hires.
  • Ensuring Compliance with US Filing Requirements: Liaise with external advisors to prepare and file annual Federal and State Business Corporation tax schedules.  Working with external advisors to identify and file other returns as required by US or State law.   Ensure compliance with reporting of employee benefit plans.
  • 401k Management: 401K plan administration.  Manage employer match, vesting and forfeitures.  Manage all aspects of broker and TPA management and ensure compliance with ERISA and all corporate documents.  Review quarterly investment report and make changes as needed.

Requirements:

  • Four year college degree; degree with a Finance or Accounting emphasis is strongly preferred
  • MBA or CPA
  • Prior work a similar position and within a professional services organization (work in a similar industry is preferable)
  • Strong accounting knowledge and competent in the areas of US payroll, Corporation Tax, and state filing requirements.
  • Excellent MS Excel skills.
  • A basic understanding of medical terminology, clinical trial methodology and ICH/GCP and the drug development process would be advantageous.
