Accentuate Staffing is recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join a local company at the headquarters in Raleigh NC. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the support of all cross department relations in accounting with directors regarding financial communications and report changes to accounts, while maintaining the company annual budget. This is a hands-on position that requires a thorough understanding of all operational aspects of accounting and reporting.
Responsibilities:
• Financial Reporting
o Prepare and record all activity/general ledger journal entries for cash, monthly (NSF)
o Record other journal entries such as AR, AP to Banks, federal income tax expense
o Prepare statutory financial reports, including cash flow statements and footnotes
o Calculate defined benefit annual expense and ensure accounting treatment is correct
o Research accounting issues or treatments in the event of new changes
o Reconcile accounts and Complete financial statement comments, monthly
o Maintain fixed assets/project depreciation analysis and projections, including tax
o Perform corporate Budgeting, Reforecasting and Planning processes, as needed
o Assist with Finance project implementations. Provide support, including analysis
o Assist in preparing for BOD meetings, including expense report spreadsheet review
• Tax Reporting
o Complete effective income tax rate analysis, monthly
o Prepare estimate of year end effective rate for monthly booking of current expense
o Coordinate with external vendor on review of quarterly effective rate and return prep
o Send and record all estimated tax payments for federal and state income taxes
o Research tax issues; make decisions on tax provision calculations based on tax regs
• Cash Management
o Perform cash management duties, including review of bank reconciliations, monthly
o Maintain and manage bank relationships, including monitoring internal controls, etc.
o Process/review commission payments to general agents and premium tax payments
o Administer reinsurance recoverable and deductibles, including billing and collections
• Expense Reimbursement Administer (Concur)
o Reviewing expense reports for compliance with Policy
Requirements:
• Bachelors degree with a concentration in Accounting or Finance with 5 years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of years of experience and education.
• Must have the ability to prioritize and manage time and competing duties and communicate complex issues clearly and efficiently.
• Ability to think critically and refer to source document guidance related to financial reporting, etc. to solve issues.
• Prior insurance accounting background is preferred.
• Previous Insurance Industry experience preferred
• CPA designation required
