A leading manufacturer in Durham, NC is looking for qualified candidates to maintain, service, troubleshoot commercial HVAC equipment and inspect air conditioning units to ensure efficient operation.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and replace damaged or worn heating, ventilation and air-conditioning parts and equipment, repairs or replaces low and high-pressure liquid lines
  • Inspect and observe pressure of liquid lines
  • Inspect and observe pressure of liquids and vapor with instrumentation to ensure efficient operation of units and make necessary adjustments; inspects and service refrigeration equipment including refrigerators, ice machines, gas packs and heat pumps
  • Adjust and maintain internal electrical and electronic control systems; cleans coils and blowers and checks motors and belt tensions
  • Maintain maintenance records as required by City, State, and EPA regulations.

Requirements

  • EPA Universal Certification
  • 5-10  years of experience as an HVAC Technician
  • Knowledgeable in trouble shooting all types of roof top units including but not limited to gas package units, heat pumps, and split systems.
  • Able to read electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints
  • Ability to run copper piping and PVC
  • Ability to organize work and meet deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to wire routine reports and correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all unit of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to service chillers, boilers, controls, and pumps (preferred)

  • Ability to work in a noisy, dusty, industrial/manufacturing environment, and exposed to non-toxic fumes, gases, chemicals, grease and oil
  • Ability to work with machinery and moving parts
  • Ability to operate trucks and motor vehicles
  • Ability to work with moving vehicles, ladders, and scaffolding
  • Ability to work at heights, and in confined spaces
  • Ability to properly lift/carry/push/pull/manipulate/transport up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs., frequently lift up to 40 lbs., and consistently lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment
  • Ability to work in repetitive motions and pressure involving fingers, hands, and wrists
  • The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing or walking over hard concrete surface
  • Exposure to recurring bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, sitting, climbing, stretching, or similar activities
  • Ability to reach at high levels
  • Ability to read, write, speak and communicate in the English Language
  • Must have the physical strength and ability to frequently work more than 40 hours weekly
