Accentuate Staffing is currently recruiting for an Assistant Controller to join an established company in the Cary area. This position oversees the day-to-day accounting transactions across multiple companies in the organization. Duties include ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data for accounts payable, accounts receivable and the general ledger, while assisting in report generation and recommending processes for improving the financial procedures and policies. The position calls for directing month-end closings, ensuring that accounts are properly reconciled while highlighting inconsistencies or unusual transactions.

Responsibilities:
• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
• Establish and maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
• Coordinate and ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
• Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules including balance sheet reconciliations
• Fixed and Intangible Asset Management
• Maintain an orderly asset filing system
• Reconcile to general ledger
• Calculate and record depreciation and amortization
• Calculate commissions and royalties and ensure timely payment per contracts
• Work closely with Accounting Specialist to maintain and reconcile bank accounts, A/P and A/R
• Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
• Assist in the preparation and consolidation of the annual budget
• Initiate and manage system efficiency projects such as:
• Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information
• Prepare financial and operating metrics, including budget to actual variances and report on material differences
• Prepare and distribute Cost Center Statements to department heads and staff
• Invoice strategic partners for contractual expenses and provide supporting detail as required
• Comply with commercial insurance policy requirements such as inventory reporting by location, new product registration updates, and request certificates of insurance as needed
• Track research and development expenses by project
• Participate in Business Development and Demand Plan meetings

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a business-related field
• 5+ years of experience with good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures
• Organizational skills with superior attention to detail
• Excellent computation skills to make calculations with speed and accuracy
• Ability to coordinate and communicate across multiple functional disciplines
• Advanced MS Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, lookups), MS PowerPoint (charts, graphs)
• Familiarity with accounting software (i.e. QuickBooks, MS Dynamics AX, Oracle, SAP)
