Accentuate Staffing is currently recruiting for a Sr Cost Analyst/Accountant to join an established company in the Durham area.  This position is responsible for performing accounting functions for manufacturing functions related to inventory and production activity in a SAP ERP system environment.
Responsibilities:
-Perform accounting procedures related to monthly close e.g. inventory close and journal entry preparation.
-Monitors, analyzes and reports on inventory valuation, production material, labor and various other costs ensuring cost data is reflected correctly.
-Perform necessary system data reference (cost, unit of measure etc.) transactions to maintain inventory accuracy
-Support management in development of labor and overhead rates, inventory costing and performance of Annual Standard Cost Roll including analytics on year-over-year (YOY) P&L impact, YOY material cost and YOY fixed and variable spending analysis.
-Work with Supply Chain Management and Manufacturing Operations to investigate inventory discrepancies providing root cause/corrective action to prevent re-occurrence.
-Assist in the development of improved processes to facilitate efficient general ledger account postings and reconciliation. Will also assist in the management & documentation of overall accounting procedures and policies to include accounting, payroll and other financial functions.
-Reconcile assigned G/L accounts of in a timely manner and effectively communicate all discrepancies to managerial personnel.
-Increase professional and technical knowledge by attending training classes, participating in professional societies and reviewing professional publications.
-Assist in special projects as directed by manager.

Requirements:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
-A minimum of 7 years of manufacturing cost accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Advanced degree in a related field (preferred)
-SAP Inventory and Cost Management experience
-Knowledge of advanced spreadsheet concepts (i.e. Excel)
-Ability to research, collect and analyze financial data; requires extensive use of computers and spreadsheet software packages
-Ability to develop and implement improvements to systems and processes Self-motivated; ability to work under general supervision
-Clear and concise verbal and written communications; good interpersonal/customer relations skills
