Accentuate Staffing is currently recruiting for a Staff Accountant to join an established company in the RTP area. This position is responsible for performing the data entry for all daily transactions for both our US and UK locations, preparing the payment runs, understanding financial coding to ensure proper classification by account, department and project, maintaining accounting records for all transactions and performing reconciliation of monthly ledgers.
-Perform the daily operations of the accounting department including: accounts payable / check runs / cash receipts / daily banking requirements / general ledger activity / fixed asset activities and others as needed by the team.
-Perform assigned tasks to ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
-Comply and follow all policies and procedures and keep information confidential.
-Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
-Support team members with special projects and workflow process improvements.
-Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting structure, including general ledger accounts, departments and projects to ensure proper coding.
-Process invoices in and maintain purchase order processing system.
-Complete the Fixed Asset roll forward and reconciliation, working with operations to get details required to insure proper recording of new purchases and disposals, calculate and book required monthly journal, and prepare required cashflow amounts.
-Reconcile daily bank activities in Xero to corresponding transaction.
-Post journal entries in Xero, the company general ledger accounting software package.
– BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, or equivalent hands on work experience.
– Prior experience performing daily transactions (start-up or small company experience advantageous).
-Hands on experience with accounting software (knowledge of Xero advantageous).
– Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices and standards.
– Must be PC proficient with strong hands on experience with MS Office, especially excel.
