Accentuate Staffing is currently recruiting for a Project/Construction Controller to join a growing company in the Durham area.  This position would report directly to the Chief Financial Officer with dotted line responsibility to the EVP, and would lead all financial activities of the Durham Branch. Looking for high functioning, self-starter.

Responsibilities:

• Leads all financial activities of the Durham organization; prepares or directs preparation of reports that summarize and forecast project activity, cash and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings, based on past, present, and expected operations.
• Implement and maintain accounting/internal controls
• Works with EVP, project finance and CFO to track progress on all active projects
• Works with project finance and corporate cash management to manage and streamline vendor payment terms to improve project cash flows and financial health of the company
• Prepare a comprehensive weekly, 30-day rolling cash forecast including project billing, collections and costs
• Monitors projects as they come on line in new states, and assist CFO and EVP with required licensing, registration, and tax implications.
• Work with corporate tax compliance to ensure that taxes are properly accounted in the budget phase and the execution phase
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end journal entries, accruals and other financial activities
• Manages all Durham office Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables ensuring accurate and timely processing, as well as PO’s
• Conduct monthly work-in-process reviews with the CFO and EVP for management review.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual Financial Statements for the Durham branch

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required (Master’s degree preferred)
• CPA status preferred
• 5+ years’ experience in a managerial accounting position
• Construction Industry experience REQUIRED
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principle and procedures
• Experience with job costing and project based accounting
• Experience with creating financial statements in a complex corporate organization structure with multiple legal entities
• Strong understanding of tax codes and laws
• Experience working with Timberline or another Construction ERP system
