Accentuate Staffing is currently recruiting for a Payroll Manager to join a local company in the Durham area. This position is responsible for all payrolls and all related items including the analysis, reconciliation, preparation and input of payroll data.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze, prepare and input payroll data to produce accurate and timely payroll
• Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
• Reviews payroll records by monitoring changes such as exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department/ division transfers.
• Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
• Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer’s social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
• Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
• Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
• Maintains payroll information by implementing and monitoring the payroll procedures and processes; directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data.
• Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
• Prepare annual and quarterly tax returns
• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports for associates and management
• Provide General Ledger support and perform various account reconciliation
• Responsible for end of year filing requirements including processing FICA refunds, distributing W-2 and 1099 Misc forms, reconciling wages and taxes reported to SSA with wages and taxes reported to IRS.
• Manage any other daily payroll functions as needed
• Payroll and labor distribution processing with reconciliation to the general ledger.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting (preferred) or relevant field from an accredited institution.
• 3 years minimum of recent professional payroll experience,
• 1 year experience with a 250+ employees organization.
• Multi-State Payroll experience
• Experience processing payroll for the State of California REQUIRED
• 2 years experience working with an automated payroll system
• 1-2 years experience with ADP.
• Professional credentials such as the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
